Lot Description

Mostly brilliant surfaces show wisps of apricot iridescence on the high points, particularly over the obverse. Much original satiny mint luster can be seen in the fields. The reverse is typically weakly defined, especially the letters of DOLLAR. The 1858-D is a desirable issue having a scant mintage of just 3,477 pieces. Probably no more than 300 survivors still exist in all grades.
