Description du lot
A very RARE early Proof Seated Liberty half dime. Only 50 Proofs were struck for collectors, and this CHOICE example has a great look. Flashy, moderately reflective fields gleam through a rich iridescent golden-pearly silver patina. The strike is bold, boasting sharply rendered devices on both obverse and reverse. Like Walter Breen noted as diagnostic, there is repunching on the last digit of the date. PCGS 7, NGC 2. The last non-CAC PCGS graded example sold over a decade ago for $4,025, as part of the W.L. Carson Collection (Stack's November 2010). This coin last sold in September 2005! The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,000. RARE finer, with just 8 certified in higher grades in the non-CAM designation. A delicacy rarely available and always desired by advanced collectors, especially at the current price point. Good luck. Cert. Number 5814917 PCGS # 4434.00
