- 1870 Pattern Dime. Judd-871, Pollock-968. Rarity-7+. Aluminum. Reeded Edge. Proof-65 (NGC).
Obv: Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty, facing right, wearing a headband ornamented with a single star. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll below. Rev:The denomination 10 CENTS in the center, surrounded by an oak and laurel wreath with the inscription STANDARD SILVER above and the date 1870 below.
Sharp and reflective with a high wire edge. Traces of dark toning are seen on the obverse and at the edges on each side, this being mentioned only as a identifier for future pedigrees.
