- Lot Description
- The FINEST graded VAM-23! Given the colorful nickname "Crazy Lips" this variety is a TOP 100 VAM that shows dramatic die doubling of the details at the lips and nose. One of the easy diagnostics is the thin top to the P in PLURIBUS. Considered R-4, VAM-23 often comes with PL surfaces, but based on the population summary at vamworld.com, as of their September 2017 update, NO GRADING SERVICE had graded any VAM-23 in MS65 regardless of designation! Fully PL surfaces show a blazing, flashy mint luster. Both sides offer bold, brilliant silver and have a wonderful mirrored texture in the fields with strong frosty devices. A halo of gold frames the obverse. The eye appeal is wonderful! PCGS 1, NGC 0. This is the FINEST VAM 23 graded at any grading service, a true prize for the collector of these popular Morgan dollar varieties. There is no CU value for a MS65 PL. In MS64 PL, the CU value is listed at $1,300 and in 64 DMPL the value is listed at $3,900. Where this coin ends up will likely be a RECORD! Cert. Number 35474781 PCGS # 7073
