Lot Description

1799 Draped Bust Cent. S-189. Rarity-2+. AG-3 (PCGS). One of the key dates to the series and difficult to find in any grade, this well-worn example exhibits lighter brown on the devices with deeper brown fields. Reasonably smooth for this degree of wear and the tops of the date are clear enough for quick attribution. The wreath and central areas are still intact but much of the peripheral legend has worn smooth. The reverse die was rotated about 20 degrees counter clockwise when this coin was struck. This example is rather wholesome and pleasing, as the copper surface is more intact and attractive than often found even on higher grade examples of this date.
