- 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 38-Y, W-5170. Rarity-3. Outlined Shield, Pony Head. EF-40 (PCGS).
145.9 grains. Nice medium brown with mostly smooth, glossy surfaces. A little mint clip is seen above SA of CAESAREA and to the right of the shield clip, but it misses any design elements. Some scattered little striations are seen, including around the reverse perimeter, but the planchet is actually very nice. A couple little obverse scratches blend in, including a few parallel ones near N of NOVA and one between SA of CAESAREA. This is a pretty nice little type coin.
Provenance: From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.
PCGS# 766248.
