- From a mintage of 590 Proofs comes this generally sharply defined 1890 Morgan silver dollar. We note only minor softness to the central obverse high point, a feature of little concern since it is easily overlooked during in-hand viewing. Moderate hairlining, a few faint slide marks on Liberty's cheek, overall muting to the brilliant finish, and some cloudiness to the surfaces explain the Proof-61 grade from PCGS. Even so, this is a respectable example of a popular and conditionally challenged design type in the U.S. Mint's classic Proof series. It is a coin that would fit comfortably into many collections currently being formed.
