- Description du lot
- This carefully preserved, visually appealing Gem half eagle is from a mintage of just 88 Proofs. Vivid deep golden-yellow surfaces are pristine in appearance and support sharp to full striking detail throughout. Splendid cameo contrast between satiny devices and mirrored fields enhances this coin's already significant appeal.<p>As with all issues in the Proof Liberty Head half eagle series, the 1890 is rare and seldom offered in today's market. The latest research from specialist John W. Dannreuther (<em>United States Proof Coins</em>, 2018) suggests that just 35 to 40 distinct example of this issue remain. This specimen is among the finest certified and would make an impressive addition to any gold cabinet.
