Lot Description
Breathtakingly beautiful Gem-quality surfaces are silky smooth beneath an overlay of original, attractive, silver-apricot iridescence. Fully struck with a cameo finish that goes unmentioned on the Generation 1.2 PCGS holder. The advent of the new Barber quarter design in 1892 caused a run at the Mint on Proofs, where 1,245 coins were produced in this format; the next year the love affair was over and the Proof mintage had dropped considerably, never again to brush the 1,000-piece mark for the duration of this series. This is one of the nicest Proofs for the first year 1892 that we have ever offered, irrespective of certified grade, and it is sure to sell for a strong premium.
