- Lot Description
- This is one of the Nova Constellatio copper varieties that tends to give fits to collectors who seek only high grade coins. Offered here is a relatively pleasing Choice VF example with glints of silvery-olive to otherwise steely copper-brown surfaces. Well centered on a defect-free planchet, the peripheries are boldly defined for the grade, but the centers are noticeably soft due to a combination of striking inadequacy and moderate wear. We stress, however, that bluntness to the all-seeing eye in the center of the obverse is typical for this variety. Lightly cleaned at one time, but to no great detriment, especially since there are only a few notable marks, most of which are out of the way at the peripheries.
