Description du lot
1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 2-A, W-1885. Rarity-4+. CONSTELLATIO, Pointed Rays, Small, Close Date. EF-40 (PCGS). 122.2 grains. Choice for the grade, this lovely EF exhibits glossy medium brown surfaces that appear smooth and nearly flawless to the unaided eye. Die swell in the center of the obverse explains the softness to the eye, although the central reverse is quite bold, and the detail sharpens considerably toward the borders on both sides. A thoroughly appealing example of this scarce and conditionally challenging variety, this one would be difficult to improve upon. Provenance: From McCawley & Grellman's C-4 Sale of November 2001, lot 436; Ira & Larry Goldberg's Pre-Long Beach Auction of February 2007, lot 78. Goldberg's lot tag and collector envelope with attribution and provenance notes included. PCGS# 823. NGC ID: 2AZ4. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
