This beautiful Superb Gem is sure to catch the eye of advanced Jefferson nickel collectors. Central reverse striking detail is superior for an issue that is typically blunt over the steps leading up to the front of Monticello. Satiny in texture and devoid of even trivial blemishes, an overlay of soft champagne-gold iridescence is of further appeal. From a substantial mintage of 175,776,000 circulation strikes, although we caution bidders that the mint's focus at the time was on churning out as many coins as quickly as possible, with little to no concern for quality. The result is a very scarce issue in the certified Full Steps category, with Superb Gems such as this combining strike and condition rarity.
