- Lot Description
- 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-4. Good-4 (PCGS). Outline definition remains to most devices, although we do note areas of heavier circulation that are worn nearly smooth. The reverse retains a full, bold border, and the remaining detail on the obverse includes a discernible date. Originally toned in even dove-gray patina, a few small abrasions in and around the central obverse are insignificant at the lower reaches of the numismatic grading scale. The premier U.S. Half Dollar issue, the 1794 Flowing Hair is also a key-date coin with a mintage of just 23,464 pieces.
