1839 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-6. Rarity-2. Noyes Die State A. Booby Head. MS-62 BN (NGC). Attractive medium brown color throughout with no carbon issues and pleasing surfaces. The strike is sharp enough to define Liberty's upper curls and the leaves on the wreath. Close scrutiny finds a thin pin line crossing the top of Liberty's head into the right field and a couple of other shallow lines as well, but they are all old and blend into the surfaces well. Scarce as a major type coin with the Booby Head design, especially at this grade level.
