1831 N-9 R2 Large Letters PCGS graded MS62 Brown.The obverse is frosty light olive and golden tan; the reverse is lustrous medium brown and light olive with peeps of mint red in protected areas. The obverse may have been recolored but the toning on the reverse is original. The surfaces are smooth and the notable marks are some nicks on the chin and neck plus a few more in the field off the chin. The reverse is choice and looks mint state. E-MDS with the usual die crack through the date and most of the stars, but the radial crack from star 5 to the dentils has not formed. In addition there is a barely visible planchet clip that affects the dentils below the 31 and the opposing ones over the second S in STATES (as struck). Our grade is AU55 sharpness net AU50.
