- 1882 Pattern Liberty Nickel. Judd-1691, Pollock-1893. Rarity-6+. Copper. Plain Edge. Proof-65 BN (PCGS). Similar overall to the type adopted in 1883, but as the uspatterns.com website notes: "This is the popular precursor to the Liberty nickel. It is often described as the exact issue of 1883, but is struck from an obverse die with a slightly different arrangement of the stars." Deep chestnut brown surfaces. The finest example of Judd-1691 certified by PCGS within any color designation. PCGS# 62096. PCGS Population: 1; none finer within any color designation.
