Lot Description
1783 Washington Draped Bust Copper. No Button. W-10300, Baker 2-B, Vlack 13-J. URS-11 (as a die variety). Plain Edge--Broadstruck--MS-65... The first major Mint error that this cataloger has ever handled on a Washington Copper of this type, this piece is broadstruck out of collar with the planchet expanding to an unusually large size. All devices are still sharply struck, however, including those around the peripheries. Beautiful glossy-textured surfaces are free of detracting blemishes with otherwise dominant orange-brown patina. A blush of medium-brown tinting is confined to the right obverse.
