Lot Description: 1845-O Liberty Eagle. Winter Variety Three. Repunched Date. AU-55 (NGC). A loupe reveals wide repunching on the digit 4 in the date and less-pronounced repunching on the digit 5 in the date. Possessed of even olive-orange color, both sides exhibit light highpoint wear to devices that still present as overall bold in detail. Light, wispy abrasions do not include any individually mentionable distractions. As an issue, the 1845-O is a median rarity among pre-Civil War era New Orleans Mint Tens. The typical survivor grades VF or EF and solidly graded AUs are quite scarce in today's market.
