Lot Description
1798/7 Draped Bust Dime. JR-1. Rarity-3. 16-Star Reverse. Good-6 (PCGS). Warmly and evenly patinated in blue-gray, this piece retains particularly bold outline detail to most major design elements on the reverse. The obverse is softer overall, although the date is discernible, as is Liberty's portrait, the word LIBERTY and most of the stars. JR-1 is among the more available of the four known die marriages of the 1798-dated Draped Bust dime, second only to the JR-4 Large 8 variety. The present example offers solid technical quality and pleasing eye appeal at the lower reaches of the numismatic grading scale. PCGS# 4468. NGC ID: 236F.
