- 1828 Classic Head Half Cent. C-2. Rarity-2. 12 Stars. MS-62 BN (PCGS). OGH. Rich steel-brown patina dominates the reverse, which also retains traces of faded rose-red color around many of the peripheral features. Warmer golden-brown toning is seen on the obverse, with a few blushes of steel-brown and considerable faded rose-red color also evident. The surfaces are satiny and tight with only wispy handling marks and faint carbon flecks precluding a Choice Uncirculated grade. Here is a handsome and desirable Mint State quality example of this popular Guide Bookvariety of the 1828 half cent. Manley Die State 1.0, described as "Very Rare" by the author. PCGS# 1150.
