Lot Description

Morton Consignment. Mintage: 2,790. One cannot fully appreciate the potential details for a 20-cent piece without examining a proof, because circulation strikes so often feature mundane definition. Pinpoint accuracy ensures the presence of even the most minute details in the eagle's wings, except the extremity of the left (observed) wingtip. Careful examination of the devices reveals some frosty texture which suggests at least vestigial cameo effect, but the dense smoke-grey toning creates a low-contrast appearance overall. A couple of grade-defining nicks in the obverse right field bear mentioning.
