Lot Description
A lustrous mottled brown CHOICE Mint State N-6. This Rarity-2 die pair is identified by a die line in the headband above ERTY and a small die chip on the 6 notes the earlier, unlapped die state. A brilliant brown lustrous surface gleams and accents the well struck devices and lovely surfaces. Accents of original red cling to areas and a gentle dusting of iridescent violet adheres to the surfaces in places. Pleasingly well struck and attractive. PCGS 47, NGC 29, CAC 24. The most recent example of a PCGS MS64 CAC sold in November 2021 for $2,400 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $2,600. This is a wonderful example of the first year of this type, and represents the sole denomination produced in 1816. Cert. Number 43300803 PCGS # 1591
