Lot Description

1767-A French Colonies Sou, or 12 Deniers. Paris Mint. Breen-700, Vlack 8-H. No RF Counterstamp. EF-45 (PCGS). 189.0 grains. Brick red fields and tan devices contrast nicely. The surfaces show some granularity under a glass, along with hints of raised old verdigris here and there. This sort of surface is commonplace on this issue (perhaps from exposure to the West Indian climate?), but is rarely accompanied by this kind of sharpness.
