Lot Description

Dominant smoky slate gray patina on both sides, the obverse with earthy olive highlights to the design elements, reverse with a blush of warmer steel-mauve in the center. Well worn to explain the VG-10 grade from PCGS, but all design elements are fully outlined, and the surfaces are undeniably original and impressively smooth during in-hand viewing. At this level of preservation Flowing Hair half dollars just do not come much nicer. Tompkins Die Stage 2/1.
