Description du lot
The 1874-CC is one of the RAREST of all Seated Liberty dimes, with a very limited mintage of 10,817. Virtually the entire mintage went directly into wild west commerce, where they would remain for many years. Today, PCGS CoinFacts estimates that there are 80 survivors, and typical coin grades lower than VF; XF examples are RARE and anything finer is VERY RARE to EXCESSIVELY RARE. The presently offered example is about as fine as any collector could hope to add to their sets. There is a wealth of detail to the devices, and very light wear on the high points. Like many examples seen over the years, there is some roughness to the planchet, but the overall eye appeal is very nice with subtle touches of luster peeking through the dove, tan, and olive toning. A strong glass does reveal a few minor circulation marks, these are easily overlooked when you consider the RARITY of this date. Think of it in these terms: the famed Eliasberg Collection, often cited as the GREATEST collection ever put together, had only a VG example! PCGS 6, NGC 0. The Most recent example to sell in auction was the PCGS/CAC XF45 that we sold in our December 2014 Regency Auction. Prior to that, a non-CAC PCGS coin sold in July 2014 for $25,850. Remember, anything finer is VERY RARE, with just 4 coins grading in the AU range and five in Mint State at PCGS. This will be a great addition to ANY Seated Dime collection! It's owner has recently upgraded this date in their set. Opportunity knocks extremely loud here! DO NOT miss your opportunity to add this spectacular coin to your collection. Cert.
