Looks mint state but there is a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The notable marks are a small spot of darker reddish brown toning in the field before the nose, a diagonal nick on the bust, and a horizontal hairline over the 17 in the date. In addition there is an incipient planchet clip that weakens a couple dentils below the 1 in the date and the opposing dentils above the second T in STATES, as struck. EDS but not quite the earliest state according to Breen, Breen state I late or II early, with a few faint die chips from the base of the E in UNITED and some more in the leaves below the O in OF. The fields on the obverse are covered with fresh vertical die polishing lines and the fields on the reverse are smooth and show faint vertical die polishing lines inside the wreath. The earliest die state for this variety your cataloger has seen. Graded MS62 Choice and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #21501. Bland says AU55 and tied for CC#3.
