Lot Description

Really a lovely example, and the finest S-194 cent we have offered in recent years behind a pair of uncirculated coins in NGC MS-62 BN and PCGS MS-61 BN. Much autumn-orange mint color remains, especially on the obverse, and it mingles nicely with handsome olive and gray-brown patina that is a bit deeper on the reverse. Both sides exhibit a hard, frosty texture and are remarkably smooth in hand given the lack of significant marks or other blemishes. Obverse impression drawn trivially to 9 o'clock, reverse to 11 o'clock, but only the denticulation is affected, and we note universally bold to sharp detail to the major design elements. Whether you are a type collector or early copper variety enthusiast, it would be difficult to improve upon this premium quality S-194 in Choice AU. Breen Die State III.
