Lot Description

A popular final year of type, the 1916 saw a mintage of 1,788,000, and are surprisingly scarce in GEM and finer grades (VERY RARE any finer than the currently offered MS66). Frosty mint luster swirls with a satiny sheen on both sides. An original pearlescent silver hue is imbued with a hint of gold that gives this PQ coin a lot of eye appealing charm. PCGS 32, NGC 13, CAC 9. This coin has been off the market since the 2009 FUN auction, where it realized $1,725. More recently we sold one in July 2020 for $940.
