- 33 mm. Deep chocolate brown with pleasant blue overtones, especially across the obverse. A few scattered marks, but none is serious. Dies by the one of the esteemed Birmingham engravers, Thomas Wyon (the long-held maker), or his brother Peter, suggested by Musante as another possibility. The WYON signature is on the truncation of the bust. Beautifully struck on a thick flan, as usual, with excellent expression of the details. Another medal struck in honor of Washington's remarkable act of resigning the presidency, something that subjects of an English king likely found both astounding and hopeful. This is the plate piece from George Fuld's 1965 revision of the Baker reference.
