Lot Description

Manley Die State 1.0. Pleasing deep copper-brown surfaces with a tinge of olive overall, reverse also with hints of golden-brown. The center and upper left on that side are worn smooth, letters ICA in AMERICA also faint, but the fraction, word UNITED, letters AMER, and portions of the wreath remain bold. The obverse retains little border denticulation, but is bold for all major design elements. Manley 1.0 is the rare early state of these dies with no bulge left of the letter L in LIBERTY and only a single, light obverse crack from the end of the pole to the border.
