Lot Description

Beautiful cobalt-blue, red and orange-gold colors enrich the borders but leave generous portions of the centers untoned. This fully struck premium Gem resembles the sharpness of a Proof and is bathed in satiny luster. The reverse is essentially pristine, as is the obverse aside from minor contact on Liberty's upper arm. The 1858 is available in grades through MS-64, but examples of the present quality are seldom encountered.
