- 1887 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. MS-61 PL (PCGS).
Cataloged by us (Stack's) in October 1970 as: "Originally purchased as a Proof but it really is a very deceptive 'First Strike' with full proof-like surface. Just the barest trace of friction in the field." Today it remains a superior quality survivor of this issue, and the only coin certified by PCGS in the PL category.
Provenance: From the Jerome S. Reznick Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) sale of October 1970, lot 766; our (Stack's) sale of December 1971, lot 798. Collector tag with provenance notation included.
