Lot Description

1722/1-H French Colonies Sou, or 9 Deniers. La Rochelle Mint. W-11835. VF-30. 94.7 grains. Glossy chocolate brown with some mahogany toning around central devices and traces of inactive black buildup around some design elements. Finely granular in areas, still very appealing. A nick is noted at the obverse rim at 3 o'clock. Reverse legend complete, aligned to 3:30, denticles visible on left side of reverse. Obverse shows a scant few denticles near 9 o'clock. The overdate manifests here as a bump in the base of the second 2. Craige called this die pair 13-M. PCGS# 158629. Provenance: From the Ted L. Craige Collection.
