Lot Description
An incredibly RARE GEM Longacre Indian Princess silver dollar pattern struck in copper with a plain edge. Rated as R-7+ with an estimated 4 to 6 examples known in all grades, the Pollock reference lists five examples in the census, and This is the ONLY ONE graded by PCGS or NGC in the RB category. James Longacre's Indian Princess representation of Liberty sated with her hand supporting the globe. The high relief design is metallic in its stunning allure, with its starless obverse. The regular proof reverse die was used. The mahogany brown and orange-red surfaces have a bold, flashy mirrored fields that are the epitome of reflection. Accents of violet and azure cling to the surfaces that give this GEM its great visual allure. The eye appeal is truly off the charts. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. There are six graded at PCGS in all designations: PR64 BN (2); PR65 BN; PR66 BN; PR65 RB (the preset coin, the ONLY RB example); PR66+ RD CAM. This coin brought $32,400 in the 2019 ANA auction, and the PR66+ RD CAM sold in 2012 for $35,250 before it "plussed." This is an incredible MAJOR rarity that is not often seen, worthy of the FINEST collections. Good luck! Cert. Number 37867659 PCGS # 71388
