1662 Massachusetts Bay Colony Oak Tree Twopence. W-240, Noe-33, Crosby 1-A.1. Rarity-6. Large 2. VF-30 (PCGS). A pleasing mid-grade example of this scarce die state, the strike is well centered with both sides fully on the flan. Uneven wear, however, has effaced some of the peripheral lettering, especially at 3 o'clock on the obverse and 9 o'clock on the reverse. Light pewter-gray patina with tinges of pinkish-silver and faint-russet colors also coming into view at certain angles. With no worrisome abrasions or other blemishes, this piece presents very well for a moderately worn survivor of this early Colonial-era type.
