- 1873 Seated Liberty Quarter. No Arrows. Proof-64+ Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Secure Holder. A scarcer issue than a limited mintage of just 600 pieces might imply, many proof 1873 No Arrows Quarters were probably melted in the Mint to provide bullion for the newly authorized Arrows coinage of 1873-1874. The present example is a beautifully toned survivor, the obverse ringed in blended cobalt-blue and copper-rose peripheral colors that yield to lighter silver-apricot tinting in the center. The reverse is overall lighter, dominant pale-silver tinting yielding to blue and russet highlights only at the denticles. Fully struck throughout, and perhaps just one or two wispy hairlines away from an even higher numeric grade.
