Lot Description

1865-S Liberty Half Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). Partially brilliant surfaces with blushes and wisps of rose iridescence. Much frosty luster still survives in the fields. Fewer than 100 examples are thought to have survived from an original mintage of 27,612 pieces. PCGS has certified examples grading AU-53 or finer on a grand total of just eight occasions since the inception of that service back in 1986. An important condition rarity.
