Lot Description
1934 Buffalo Nickel. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. An outstanding Top Pop example to represent this otherwise readily obtainable Philadelphia Mint issue, the first in the later Buffalo nickel series. Overall sharply struck with smooth, satiny, highly lustrous surfaces. Subtle pastels of powder-blue, violet, and gold complement the superior preservation. It is tied at the very pinnacle of the PCGS Population Report and none have been graded finer. Approval by CAC surely increases the desirability. The year 1934 represents the first in the which the Mint struck nickel five-cent pieces since 1931. The Philadelphia facility's output that year amounted to a respectable total of 20,213,003 pieces, survivors of which have long been popular for Mint State type purposes. However, survivors are very rare at MS-67 or finer. PCGS Population: 11; none finer. PCGS# 3972. NGC ID: 22SL. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
