- 1897-O Barber Dime. MS-65+ (PCGS). CAC. Delightful surfaces are smooth, frosty and essentially brilliant save for mottled golden-copper highlights around the obverse periphery. Sharply struck throughout -- a feature not always noted in Barber dimes attributed to the New Orleans Mint. From a modest mintage of 666,000 circulation strikes, most of which saw heavy duty in commerce. Closed 9 in date. To find this date in MS-65+, as here, is no mean accomplishment; indeed, the present piece is one of just two examples of the date given a "+" designation by PCGS. Choice and appealing at many levels.
