- This is the EXQUISITE Eliasberg-Pogue B-2 Capped Bust quarter. Its high grade quality and amazing pedigree would make it the CENTERPIECE of any early quarter collection. Frosty luster rolls over clean fields and is enhanced by undulating, pearl gray interspersed with wisps of ice blue, sea-foam green and honey gold toning in the recessed areas. The design elements are struck to full advantage and the overdate is so bold all of the numerals underneath are clear to the naked eye. A tiny tick on Liberty’s chin and a faint line on the obverse from the cap to star 8 are noted merely for the sake of accuracy. Three die pairings were used to strike quarters dated 1825. Most scholars recognize them as 1825/2; 25/3 and 25/4, but of late, it was discovered that a leftover die from 1824/2 was used as well. Although the B-2 is considered the most common die pairing, this example can hardly be considered common with regard to provenance and exceptional condition! PCGS 2, NGC 3, CAC 1. The additional pieces grade MS66 and MS66+ at PCGS. This piece fetched a strong price of $32,900 in our Regency Auction 27 in July 2018. With the majority of coins from the Pogue Collection ensconced in collectors sets, this piece represents a fabulous opportunity to add a stunning, wholly original example with an IMPECCABLE PEDIGREE to your collection. Bid liberally if you want to own this GEM! Cert. Number 08792919 PCGS # 38975.00
