- 1827 Matron Head Cent. N-11. Rarity-1. MS-64 BN (PCGS).
An unusually bold, choice mint state example with full frosty luster and slight proof-like reflectivity in the fields. Sharply impressed from an early state of the dies, both sides are perfectly centered and fully brought up. The fine die lines at stars 4 and 10 are still crisp. Tiny abrasions before Liberty's mouth and over N in ONE, the surfaces quite clean in general. Pleasing medium olive-brown toning with highlights of bluish-steel and undertones of warm tan. Dies rotated 30 degrees clockwise.
Provenance: Ex Emanuel Taylor; Abe Kosoff's October 1961 sale, lot 582; Kagin's October 1983 sale, lot 1111.
PCGS# 36868. NGC ID: 225H.
