1892-CC Liberty Head Eagle. AU-55 (NGC). This appealing choice AU specimen retains considerable luster including some prooflike reflectivity. Attractive color as well with deep copper accents in the protected areas. Ten-dollar gold eagle production at the Carson City Mint remained high in 1892 (40,000 pieces) as the nation continued to churn out large numbers of such pieces to replace those lost to European export. Enough coins have survived that the 1892-CC is now widely regarded as the second most obtainable issue in this mintmarked gold series.
