A truly iconic colonial silver issue, the Pine Tree shilling is particularly popular! The present CHOICE FINE example is quite handsome, problem free, and very appealing. Attractive silver-gray coloration with some light toning within the devices. Slightly off center toward 12:00. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 42, NGC 9, CAC 7. This coin is ex Henry P. Kendall Collection, Stack's Bowers March 2015, lot 2417, which realized $3,290. Earlier from a Sotheby's London sale, March 1966, lot 197. The Kendall Collection was one of the greatest collections of Massachusetts silver coins ever assembled, and this is a very pleasing and affordable piece from that awe-inspiring assemblage! Cert.
