Lot Description

Forest Park Collection II. FS-004, Briggs 1-A "huge O". 11 graded F-15, 49 higher at PCGS. Ex-SEGS, where it was also graded F-15. The consignor removed this coin from it's original SEGS slab two decades ago for inclusion in his album collection (see elsewhere in today's sale), and PCGS affirms that as the correct grade. As such, LIBERTY is big and bold on the shield, showing only the most trivial hint of softness at the first letter. Deeply and attractively original overall, the navy-grey patina is a half-shade darker than usual, but still well accented by deeper color within the recesses. Unquestionably choice, with absolutely no distracting marks or stains, even in such well-worn grade, the population report remains almost absurdly low for this very scarce Redbook variety.
