Lot Description

Breen Die State IV. Satin to softly frosted olive-copper surfaces with blushes of lighter tan-brown on the reverse, the latter representing faded mint color. A thin planchet fissure (as made) reaches into the field from 3 o'clock on the obverse border, and while are no handling marks of note, accuracy compels us to mention some microscopic dark verdigris here and there on both sides, more extensive on the reverse, yet boldest along the left obverse border. Well struck with bold to sharp detail throughout the design. The definition alone supports an EAC grade of EF45, in fact, although the aforementioned flan flaw and surface build up result in a net grade of VF30. Visually pleasing, nonetheless, and a strong representative of this Sheldon number.
