Lot Description
This SUPERB GEM is tied for second highest graded at PCGS and when was the last time you saw a totally original, SUPERB example of this date? These early Proof Sets were packaged in fragile cellophane envelopes and stored, wrapped in tissue paper, inside little Proof Set boxes. Over time, the tissue paper imparted a dusty, pearlescent hue over the highly reflective surfaces, with a sunset orange frame at the rims. This is how unconserved examples look! So many Proof Walkers that are blast white and untoned have been dipped, their original skin removed. Seeing an example with this look in this high a grade is very rare in today's market. The fields are sleek, icy smooth, and watery, glistening like a serene lake. The sunset tones clearly add to the stunning visual allure! Every detail is razor sharp and the surfaces are PRISTINE. PCGS 24, NGC 70, CAC 9. The most recent example sold in our October 2021 Regency Auction for $22,325. Today the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $23,000. Neither of the two PCGS PR68+-graded examples have ever sold in auction. This one is worthy of a strong bid and placement in a very high ranking set of Proof Walkers. Good luck. Cert.
