1871 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1053, Pollock-1188. Rarity-6+. Proof-64 (PCGS). OGH--First Generation. Nickel. Plain Edge. Obverse, bust of Liberty head with coronet, small portrait and facing left. Date below, country surrounds. Reverse with open laurel wreath of two branches tied with a ribbon, 5 CENTS within. Splendid light nickel gray with trace iridescence. Die cracks in obverse legend. As nice as this pattern is ever found, tied with three others as the nicest seen by PCGS.
