- 1873 Pattern Trade Dollar. Judd-1324, Pollock-1467. Rarity-7-. Proof-65 BN (PCGS). The obverse is similar to the adopted design, but with a wider sea. The reverse shows a small, compact eagle with spread wings and billowing scroll in its beak. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The even reddish-brown patina that covers each side exhibits subtle underlying iridescent hues. Sharply impressed throughout. Trade dollar patterns are a highly collectible area and they offer a wide variety of designs and metal compositions. This is an original Gem example of this important off-metal pattern.<i><br /> </i>
