Lot Description

Uncommonly lustrous for the assigned grade, much of the frosty to semi-reflective finish remains to shine forth nicely from generally brilliant surfaces. There is some toning, nonetheless, and it is attractive in a mottling of olive-blue and coppery-rose iridescence that is boldest at upper left obverse and along the left reverse border. Lightly struck at the top of Liberty's head and in and around the central reverse, although a lack of heavy wear leaves plenty of bold detail in other areas. BB-252 is the most plentiful Small 3 variety for the 1803-dated silver dollar issue, making this a popular choice for type or date collectors of the series. In either capacity, this is a nice example with much to recommend it.
