Lot Description
1807 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-2. Rarity-5. AU-55 (PCGS). A warm orange-gold example of a scarce and important variety from the final year of the design type. Soft luster and deeper orange toning engages the peripheries and much of the devices. No serious circulation marks assail the unaided eye, though we must note some readily visible reverse planchet adjustment marks, as struck, at ES and the shield. An altogether pleasing example of a date that is often selected for inclusion in advanced U.S. gold type sets.

Numismatic Reflections by Q. David Bowers
Here is a “just right” 1807 half eagle, ideal for a variety set (rather exclusive territory) or, more likely, for a type set of early half eagles.
